Pictures of damage in Slidell & Pearl River

These are just a few of the photos from Tommy's trip. The one with Tommy standing by the tree root is the tree that fell on Amber and Chris's house. The top picture is of Daniel and Debi's garage with the tree on top.

I'm back!

Hey all!
I've had to be gone for a few days. My dad's sister passed away and I've been in Spur. Dad and Granny are doing well. My aunt had cancer and had been very ill for a while. She is in a better place and resting peacefully now.

Tommy and Brian got back from Louisiana the same day I had to leave for Spur, so I only got to visit with them for a short time. I viewed their video they took while in Louisiana and they got some great footage. I called my sister in law, Billie to tell her to tell her daughter in law, Sherrie to get in touch with her contacts at the media and see if they wanted the video. Tommy said he was contacted by NewsWest 9 in no time and they wanted to interview him and Brian. Tommy didn't really want to but finally gave in. He just wanted them to have the video. Well, they showed up at our house Thursday and did their interview and the story was the lead in story for the news that night. Tommy recorded it for me and I got to watch it today. It was a great human interest story. I was really proud of my guys. I really hope it inspired others to help out. Well, that's all for now. I'll try to capture a couple of pictures off the video clips and post them for you all to see.

Update

I've talked to Tommy a couple of times and Brian a couple of times since they arrived in Louisiana. The neighborhood which Daniel and Debi live in was spared most of the destruction the hurricane brought to so many other places in the area. They have some damage and a lot of trees down, but overall they are in pretty good shape. I found out just a bit ago they now have electricity!!! What a difference that will make. Tommy and Brian have been cutting up and removing fallen trees from their home and the neighborhood. The neighbors are all working together. Although Amber and Chris's home was destroyed, most of their belongings were spared. The kids still have their toys and clothes and stuff. That is great news. I believe all their animals survived also. I know Debi's cats are ok.

Switching gears for a moment.....My son-in-law, Scott is going to China for a while with his job. He'll be keeping a blog of his travels. You can access his link on my links. Just click on Scott's blog and that should take you there.

That's all for now folks!!

Tommy & Brian headed to Louisiana

Tommy decided this morning he needed to go to Daniel and Debi's to see if he could help. He called Daniel's mother, Elwanda and she said Daniel would be coming home from overseas around the 17th or 18th. He then called his boss and asked if it would be possible for him to take some time off and go help. Ron, Tommy's boss said take as much time as you need. Tommy was outside loading some stuff in his pickup and Ron came by and handed Tommy $1,000 and said please take this and help those people as much as you can. We knew the people he works for were awesome, but "WOW". Brian got up and was getting ready for work and when he realized what his dad was going to do, he decided he wanted to go too. His boss at Best Buy said that it was ok. Just call when he gets back. We loaded the pickup with a chainsaw, water, food, propane, and other stuff we thought they might need. Tommy and Brian headed out there a bit ago. Please keep them in your prayers.
